55 year old, Carlos Monge’s fitness knowledge is a result of 30 years of personal training as well as managing and owning gyms. The last 13 years have been spent training clients in Ahwatukee and the Ahwatukee Foothills.
His career began in El Paso, Texas where he not only helped people reach their fitness goals, but also competed as a ‘natural’ (drug-free) body builder. He has also coached and trained numerous men and women in body building and fitness competitions.
Carlos has been certified through the Baylor Sports Medicine Institute in Post Rehabilitative Training and Pre/Post Natal Personal Training.
With more than 3 decades of experience, Carlos is able to develop safe exercise programs for his clients to improve their physical appearance and health while increasing their energy, self-confidence and overall wellness.
Carlos has had clients as young at 14 and as young-at-heart, as 76. Other clients include professional athletes, working professionals, stay-at-home moms and retirees.
Carlos opened the doors to Body by Design in the Ahwatukee Foothills in February of 2006 after training clients at the Foothills Athletic Club for 3 years. When his business outgrew that location, he moved to his present location at 4206 E. Chandler Blvd in Phoenix.
Carlos has been married for 14 years to Stephanie Sandoval, veteran broadcaster and local TV Personality who has been Host of Sonoran Living Live on ABC15 and 10pm Anchor at Fox10 News. She has lived in Arizona much of her life, raised in Tempe and graduated from Corona del Sol.
Carlos and Stephanie have two sons; Landon~ 10 years old and 5 year old Ryker. They live is southeast Chandler.
In his downtime, Carlos enjoys watching MotoGP Motorcycle racing, watching a movie or playing with his boys.
MY FITNESS PHILOSOPHY
EXERCISE: Body by Design believes in an overall wellness approach to personal training. This includes strength training, flexibilty, cardiovascular, rope training and functional training through a mind to muscle approach. We also implement the components of movement, which are rotations, push/pull, mass movers and speed/slow movements. These are part of the equation to achieving longevity.
NUTRITION: We believe without proper nutrition you can not achieve long-term success in your fitness program. We don't believe in a "magic pill" or quick fixes but do believe the right program can result in quick weight loss. Our nutritional plan includes lean protein, low to moderate healthy carbohydrates, a healthy amount of vegetables and supplementation consumed over the course of 5-6 small meals a day. Proper nutrition accounts for 60 - 70% of achieving your fitness goals.
We also offer a free program: 21 DAY JUMP START. This is a monitored natural weight-loss program where you can lose up to 6 pounds in the first week. We show you how to use natural and whole foods to transform your body and begin your weight-loss and fitness program.
MOTIVATION: We believe the strength of your motivation determines how successful you will be in reaching your fitness goals. We will help keep you motivated through through a variety of methods. Among them, varying workouts weekly to create muscle confusion and prevent boredom, accountability through email and texts from your trainer and support from an amazing group of clients, all striving for similar wellness goals.
Body by Design also believes in tracking your progress through the use of a Polar Body Age machine. This system analyzes the age your body is functioning at and compared it with your chronological age.
